I really, really think we need to get a panel, round up some guest judges and start Project Fanfiction, where we pick a fandom and the writers are given a writing challenge every interval and scored on structure, creativity and adhering to the canon.

I could be the hostess, Ferocia Fanfic, and dress up cute like Heidi Klum, handing out dazzling, eloquent compliments to goodfic writers and auf widershens to badfic writers.

We could have challenges like, “Write a romantic scene between a CANON couple”

or “Write a physically feasible action scene”

or “Write a humorous scene that DOESN’T involve character bashing”

with the most difficult challenge being, of course, “Write a small piece about an OC who ISN’T a Mary Sue”.

Those who score the highest will be named the winner of the challenges...and those who score lowest will be out, all culminating in a Fanfiction Write-Off where they present a finished story to see who will win Project Fanfiction.

Because when the writers don’t MAKE IT WORK, they really tick me AUF!
